What makes Heather a good candidate?

I have been with TAPCO Credit Union for over seven years, starting as a Teller, progressing to a Member Service Lender. Four years ago, I moved into the newly-created position of Compliance Specialist. This position has been a great fit. I enjoy the challenge of following regulatory changes and the opportunity for continued learning. In addition, I have been participating with the Pierce County Chapter of Credit Unions (PCCCU) since the beginning of my career with TAPCO. I have been a part of the board for almost seven years. This involvement has allowed for networking, community involvement, and educational opportunities. As a compliance professional, I place immense value in learning. I have earned and maintained compliance certifications through both CUNA and NAFCU. I regularly attend the NWCUA’s Compliance Networking Council meetings. I was also awarded the 2012 Professional of the Year by the PCCCU. As a department of one, I am grateful for the support and cooperation my credit union has afforded me. The skills I will acquire through the Emerging Leaders Program will allow for me to not only improve my own performance, but the performance of the credit union as a whole. This program embodies two important values as I work to better improve myself as a person and a professional. This training will be an excellent learning opportunity but also an invaluable chance to network with other emerging leaders in the credit union industry. Through this program, I would like to enhance my communication skills and elevate my decision-making abilities. I anticipate that the program will facilitate one of my major goals – ongoing professional development.
