Community credit unions setting examples in service and demonstrating the principles of the credit union movement are being recruited to apply for prestigious recognition from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). Nominations for the Community Credit Union of the Year Award are being accepted through Aug. 6, 2012.
The awards will be presented at the CUNA Community Credit Union & Growth Conference Oct. 23-26, 2012, in Denver, Colo. Winners will also be profiled in “Credit Union Magazine” articles and will receive complimentary registration to the conference and the opportunity to co-present a Best Practice session at the 2012 conference.
OSU Federal Credit Union in Corvallis, Ore., won the award in the 2008-09 competition.
“The overall experience of being considered for this award is extremely rewarding for your organization as an introspective on how you are serving your communities,” said OSU Federal Assistant Vice President Mike Corwin. “Our comprehensive application became a source of pride internally as a compilation of all that we were doing and a guide for our future. And, needless to say, the successful result for OSU Federal in 2008-09 was setting a standard that we aspire to uphold daily.”
The Community Credit Union of the Year Award is reserved for community credit unions along with multi-SEG credit unions. It recognizes credit unions that excel in advancing credit union ideals, are proactive in community outreach and provide services to diverse communities. Four credit unions are recognized annually, with a first-place and honorable-mention winner in asset categories of less than and greater than $250 million.
Registration and scholarships are still available for the CUNA Community Credit Union and Growth Conference, where attendees will share strategies to fuel membership growth leave with ready-to-implement action plans.
