A website providing resources to Northwest credit unions should make Credit Unions for Kids fundraising efforts more turnkey.
“We adopted the success model proven by so many contributing credit unions in Oregon and Washington, to establish a convenient one-stop resource center. We believe it offers the best fundraising ideas, information about the hospitals that will benefit and the patients who are the focus of the fundraising,” said Kasey Rockwell, Director of Outreach Programs for the Northwest Credit Union Association (NWCUA).
Credit Unions for Kids has a rich history in the Northwest. In 1986, a group of Oregon and Southwest Washington credit unions began raising money to benefit sick children, and titled their efforts, “Credit Unions for Kids.” A decade later, their model went to national levels. Credit Unions for Kids is now recognized as the credit union movement’s “charity of choice” with more than $80 million contributed to 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals. One hundred percent of every dollar donated is sent to the regional CMN hospital.
The site was prepared by the Association design team with input from staff liaisons, regional credit unions long active in fundraising, CMNH and the American Association of Credit Union Leagues.
Online resources include:
“A visit to the site also gives you background about the hospitals in each region, and the credit unions that have contributed to them,” said Rockwell. “It gives you go-to information if you need to get ideas or input from credit unions with a lot of experience making this work.”
