In today’s competitive environment we must earn the business, cultivate it, and continually prove our worth as a financial institution. Our goal is to be the very first financial services provider the member thinks of. We need to ask ourselves and our members these questions…often:

  • What can we do for the member that other financial institutions cannot do?(do you mean to ask the question this way, in other words, what are competitors also doing, or do you mean to ask, “What can we do for the member other financial institutions can’t?
  • What gives us the competitive edge?
  • Just how easy are we to do business with?
  • What do we continually do to prove our worth?
  • How do we demonstrate that we truly care about our members?
This action packed and interactive session will provide you valuable tools to stay ahead of your competition through service excellence, disciplined follow up, and consistent standards. Join us as we engage in an interactive exchange celebrating the history and community impact of Credit Unions. Just as a house cannot stand without a foundation, our movement cannot prosper and grow without knowing our humble beginnings. Be prepared to immerse yourself in the session and be led by three energetic trainers from Harborstone Credit Union. You will walk away refreshed, excited, and with a renewed drive to be a Credit Union Advocate.

Friday Night Fun: Networking over Dinner and Bowling
Extend your conference experience by making professional connections with your peers while enjoying a Western BBQ Buffet and bowling experience at Big Al’s in Beaverton, OR.
Family and friends are welcome to join in the fun of this add-on event as well.  Registration for this event is separate and includes a chicken and ribs BBQ buffet enjoyed in a private party room, unlimited soft drinks, bowling on NWCUA exclusively reserved alleys, and your shoe rental.

We are the frontline-face of not only our brand but the credit union difference as well. But while juggling member service, quotas, lending, staff issues and a myriad of other responsibilities, we are often not equipped to share the essential message of who we are, and how credit unions are different. During this session, Josh will pick up from the previous day’s exploration of credit union philosophy and inspire us to understand and share the credit union movement in a relevant and compelling way. By end of day, we will understand the significant role we play in serving our members-owners.

About the Presenters

Lynn Giuliani, CSP
Lynn Giuliani is the President and founder of Progressions Inc. a consulting company specializing in Sales, Service and Leadership Training for Credit Unions. She has been an instructor for CUNA for 16 years and has helped over 200 financial institutions move from a reactive order taking, to a proactive sales culture where representatives actively look for ways to help their members. Her focus is on teaching new behaviors and skill sets through ongoing coaching and mentoring, and essentially “walking them through change”.  Throughout Lynn’s career she has personally designed five different Business Development programs, managed a group of commissioned paid loan officers, worked as a trainer for two International Training Companies, and was one of the first commissioned paid calling officers in the U.S. Lynn exudes confidence and enthusiasm as she walks the talk of sales and service excellence.

Lynn is the author of four books, “Credit Union Selling – It’s Easy!”, “Success is a Journey”, “Meetings, Icebreakers and Skills to Jazz Up Your Team” and “Giuliani’s Top 15 Sales Strategies.” She writes a monthly column for Business Pulse magazine and has been published in numerous periodicals. With Lynn’s knowledge, and sense of humor, her training skills are always in great demand.

She is the proud mother of two grown children, has five grandchildren and enjoys her country weekends with her husband Mike.  Her work is her passion, and her audience feels it!

They are passionate, professional, and focused on engaging and developing each employee to achieve their full potential.

Josh Allison
Josh is the Founder and Chief Ideator for Think Café, a credit union consulting company. When not consulting and speaking, you’ll find him fighting hard for our movement alongside you as the Relationship Development Manager for Horizon Credit Union. He is a passionate public speaker and is in high demand nationally to present on a number of topics related to youth outreach, relationship management and cu philosophy.  His youth and business development programs have garnered national awards and recognitions, and he is cited in the CU Times and multiple CU blogs for his youth outreach and business development ideas.

He lives with his wife and children in Spokane, Washington and has served as the Eastern Washington vice chair of the WCUL Youth Development Council, and as a Board of Director for Communities in Schools (CIS). Additional community involvement includes the NYIB, graduation from Leadership Spokane and certification as a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE).
