Location: JA BizTown
Price: $0As the United Nations has proclaimed 2012 the “International Year of Cooperatives” it makes sense for credit unions to get involved and demonstrate how “cooperative enterprises build a better world.”
In the spirit of cooperation, the Northwest Credit Union Association would like to help organize a financial literacy event April 4, 2012. We need up to 30 Portland-area credit union volunteers to help more than 100 enthusiastic 5th graders experience Junior Achievement’s BizTown.
BizTown is a “mini city” where young consumers deposit paychecks, act as reporters interviewing local business leaders, run businesses and serve as elected officials – all with your help. Most of the students attending the April 4th event are from Corvallis, so their parents are unable to fill the volunteer shifts.
The commitment we need is for credit union volunteers to participate in a 90-minute training session, followed by a half-day of fun with the students. Having volunteers from a variety of local credit unions will send a power message about the power of cooperation!
Please register yourself, and any other staff members who would be able to volunteer for this event.
